Bingo Schedules
Please contact Janice March as soon as possible if you are unable to work your scheduled shift.
Each Saturday night Sydney Minor Hockey (SMHA) participates in the Membertou Bingo by providing volunteers to work. This is a year round fundraising program and an excellent opportunity for our members to earn money towards next year’s hockey registration fees.
It is extremely important for everyone to arrive for their shift on time. All Floor and Lead shifts begin at 5:30 and the 50/50 shift begins at 6:30.
Floor: When working the floor there are four possible placements:
- smoking room mic – watching for winners, communicating with the caller, distributing payments (one mic person in each room)
- smoking room card seller – selling cards for specialty games and delivering money to the mic person (one seller between the two rooms)
- main floor mic – watching for winners, communicating with the caller, distributing payments (three people with mics on main floor)
- main floor card seller – selling cards for specialty games and delivering money to the mic person (two sellers on main floor)
- We have to be very vigilant in walking the floor and watching for winners, if a winner is missed it is our organization that is responsible to pay the loss.
- Please face the caller when verifying winners.
- There will be NO exchanging of cards (ie: players cannot exchange an orange card for a white card).
- When returning unsold cards and money to the "lead" only ONE person can go at a time (this ensures the floor is not left short staffed, as well it is harder for the lead to organize the paperwork when more than one come at the same time).
- ALL tips are to be kept in the apron of the mic person and turned in to the lead at the end of the night.
- EVERYONE is to help pick up the PH's at the end of the night.
SydSport 50/50: When selling the 50/50 tickets you will be walking the floor selling 50/50 tickets between 6:30-8:30.
The list used for scheduling is organized by player’s names and levels. Therefore, if someone has more than one child playing hockey they will be on the list for each child and will therefore be scheduled more often.
If you are interested in working bingo and would like to be included in future schedules please send me the following information: Child’s name, Your Name, Phone Number, Cell Number, email address. If you have any specific concerns about what shift you work or specific dates you cannot work, please also include that as well.
I have been creating monthly schedules which are emailed and posted on the league’s website. Of course, as people cancel the schedule has to be revised and updated. I send out email updates as often as required. During the week before, the lead person scheduled will call those scheduled to work, as a reminder.
Several people have sent me emails letting me know specific dates they are unavailable. That works really well. If you have any dates you know you are unavailable to work please send them to me. It is easier to make sure you are not scheduled then to find someone to switch later on.
